We ask God to give us strength to do His will, to obey His word, to do what is right, to obey His command and much more. But, what is the word of God, what it says, do we really know? Are we asking ourselves what are we focusing on, our thought are in line with His commands? Are we meditating on His command all day, is God’s word constantly in our mind. If we do not think about His word constantly how are we planning to do it, how are we going to obey it? What command are we really obeying? God told Joshua “study this word, meditate on this word, and obey this word” We must follow steps, First we have to study, it is not only reading, we must study. Second, we have to meditate on His word; we have to know the word in order to meditation on it. Third, we have to obey His word. How are we planning to do something that we are not thinking about? How are we panning to take action if when the opportunity comes we don’t have it in our mind, so we don’t know what to do?

Paul says, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14). When you are reaching forward you have a thought, you have an object to reach, you have a goal, and involve an action that we must take in order to reach. This action must be taking over and over and over. Paul says, “I do not count myself to have apprehended” He is not there yet, but he keeps reaching forward the goal for the prize.

With God’s help, we are able to do everything He asks us to do. And we need to be diligent about pressing in to do whatever it takes to get the job done right.

Prayer

As I read Your Word, LORD, clear my mind of needless thoughts, so that I may be aware of Your message for me this day.
